Curriculum

At Happy Feet Nursery, we follow the EYFS curriculum with a play-based, child-centred approach to promote well-being and development. We emphasize Arabic language and culture, attracting Arab and Emirati families by integrating traditions, music, and celebrations into our curriculum.

Our inclusive EYFS curriculum reflects children's diverse backgrounds and includes UAE history and culture through guest speakers and experience-based learning. The classroom is divided into areas for physical development, creativity, communication, and social-emotional growth, with age-appropriate activities tailored to children's needs.

Different activities are included in the daily timetable to cover all areas of EYFS. The children engage in role-plays, sensory plays, creative arts, and construction to encourage creativity. We promote social interaction through group activities and games and support emotional well-being with discussions and role-play to develop self-awareness and emotional regulation. We promote physical development with obstacle courses, dance, and movement exercises to enhance gross motor skills. Social skills are developed through group activities. Fine motor skills are supported by drawing, painting, and building blocks. We promote literacy through storytelling, letter recognition games, drawing, writing, and phonics. Reading time encourages independent exploration and enhances language skills, vocabulary, and comprehension. Our inclusive and nurturing environment features cozy reading corners, soft seating, and displays of children's artwork to create a sense of belonging and support. For mathematics, we engage children in counting and sorting activities using toys and objects related to the weekly theme.

At Happy Feet Nursery, we follow the Reggio Emilia Approach, a child-centered educational philosophy that emphasizes hands-on, sensory-rich learning. Originating in Reggio Emilia, Italy, this approach views children as capable and creative individuals who actively participate in their education. This approach highlights children as co-creators of knowledge, developing through their interactions and explorations. Key principles include:

Child-Centric Learning: Children have a voice in their learning, fostering curiosity and engagement. Sensory Exploration: Learning involves using all senses through tactile, auditory, and visual experiences. Social Interaction: Children learn best through interaction with peers and their environment. Self-Expression: Children are empowered to express themselves through various mediums like speech, art, music, movement, and writing. Arts and crafts activities such as painting, drawing, and playdough allow children to explore their creativity and develop their imagination. We provide materials to encourage open-ended projects, enabling them to express themselves freely. Continuous assessments of children's progress through observation by the teacher are recorded in a progress report and ensured they are tailored to meet the individual needs and interests of the child. Parent involvement is critical; we regularly share observations, progress reports, and activity updates with parents.
